GMS Secures UAE Contract
Gulf Marine Services (GMS), a provider of self-propelled self-elevating support vessels, said it had been awarded a 6.5-month contract for a K-Class (Small) self-elevating support vessel (SESV).
No financial details of the deal were disclosed. The customer is an international EPC contractor, for whom GMS would provide support for offshore activities on behalf of a Middle East national oil company.
The work will be undertaken in United Arab Emirates waters, where the vessel has already been mobilized for the project.
Utilization of GMS’ K-Class fleet now stands at 83%, the company said. SSEVs are four-legged, self-propelled vessels capable of operating in water depths of 45-80 m (147-262 ft) depending on leg length.
"We are encouraged by the steady emergence of new tenders in our core Gulf market, which will allow Gulf Marine Services to focus on building towards full utilisation of all classes of vessel in our fleet," added Executive Chair Tim Summers.
The GMS fleet of 13 SESVs is amongst the youngest in the industry, with an average age of eight years.
