In Norway, the production of liquid hydrocarbons in January 2019 decreased by 1.6%
Moscow, Neftegaz.RU. In January 2019, Norway reduced the production of liquid hydrocarbons by 1.6% to 1.822 million barrels per day compared to 1.849 million barrels per day in December 2018.
Norway mined:- 1.46 million barrels per day of oil ;- 333 thousand barrels per day of gas condensate ;- 28 thousand barrels / day of condensate.
Compared with January 2018, the production of liquid hydrocarbons also decreased by 1.6%, respectively. In January 2019, daily gas production increased by 5% compared to December and amounted to 361.9 million m3. Natural gas sales amounted to 11.2 billion m 3 (an increase of 0.5 billion m 3 in comparison with December 2018).
Norway is the largest oil and gas producing country in Europe. According to the European Commission, Norway’s oil and gas sector accounts for about 22% of GDP and 67% of exports. According to BP, the share of Norway in the global oil market is 2%.
Almost all gas exports go to EU countries, Norway covers more than 20% of EU gas needs. Recall that on January 16, 2019, Norway distributed 75 licenses for the development of subsurface resources on the shelf during the next licensing round on pre-defined sites. The Norwegian authorities are determined to keep production at a level acceptable for the country's economy.
In this regard, it is interesting to note that the hopes of the Norwegians are related, incl. with the Barents Sea, where their interests in terms of mining can intersect with the Russian. This was February 19, 2019, mentioned by the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia D. Kobylkin in his speech at a meeting of the Russian-Norwegian commission on cooperation in the field of environmental protection. He did not rule out the possibility of difficulties arising in the joint development of hydrocarbons on the continental shelf with Norway and their subsequent transportation.
