Tatarstan ready to sell more oil to Belarus
The Republic of Tatarstan is ready to sell more oil to Belarus. Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Albert Karimov made the statement as he met with Belarusian and Russian reporters on 31 October, BelTa has learned.
Every quarter of the year Tatneft contacts the Russian Energy Ministry with requests to authorize larger oil export to Belarus. “We are ready to increase the volume of shipments,” Albert Karimov said. “But there are a number of restrictions that need to be addressed at the federal level. Tatneft acts in line with the agreements reached at the level of the Russian Energy Ministry.”
The official added that the volume of Tatarstan oil export is also influenced by technological limitations due to heightened sulfur content in this oil. According to Albert Karimov, in January-September 2019 Tatarstan shipped some 840,000 tonnes of oil to Belarus. Tatneft intends to ship about 320,000 tonnes in Q4 2019.
Albert Karimov stressed that Tatarstan's interaction with the Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim has a long-term nature. Apart from selling crude oil Tatarstan's petrochemical industry supplies derivative oil products to Belarus such as sulfur, carbon, and other ones.
Tatneft intends to increase the number of automobile refueling stations it operates in Belarus. At present the chain includes 18 refueling stations.
