US Oil And Fuel Exports Outpace Imports
Weekly EIA data shows the US still imports much more crude oil than it exports, 3.2M bpd of exports vs 6.3M of imports. But those figures virtually flip if you look at refined products, with the US importing just 1.9M bpd, while exporting 5M bpd. Combine the two figures--crude oil and refined fuels--and US exports nudge past imports for a second straight week, at 8.233M bpd exports vs 8.202M imports, which according to the EIA is the first time on record that's ever happened. By comparison, five years ago this week, US net oil and fuel imports were 9.1M bpd vs just 4M bpd exports.
